New Ruger SR22
« on: January 14, 2012, 06:23:15 PM »
First on my block to buy the new Ruger SR22. Hoffman's just got them in late yesterday and I picked mine up this motning. They are already flying out the door and at $289.00 I can see why. This gun will be getting very heavy use in my pistol classes, and I expect the same great reliabilaty I get out of my other Ruger firearms. Any body else buy one or plan on getting one?

Alan,
I am only running from pictures, maybe you can straighten me out.
The ruger 22 appears to have some similar traits to the walther. The slide resembles it and the grip/trigger
Guard area.

Am I off?

I am not that familiar with the operation of the Walthers, but I do know they look similar. Field stripping is pretty unigue and simple, magazine out, lock slide to rear, check chamber, close slide and pull down
the lever in front of the trigger, lift up rear of slide and pull back and off the frame, then pull out guide rod and spring. Done. Reverse is just as simple. I have a busy schedule this week so it will be getting a lot of shooting, I will let you know how it runs.

Oh, ambi mag release and ambi safety/dec*cker. Push up on the safety for fire, down dec*cks and puts on safe.

Very nice, let me know how you like it.  I am going for my NRA Pistol Instructor certification next month and was thinking of geting a .22 for that test and future classes.  Got the email from Hoffman's yesterday, really good price on such a new model.

Over 600+ rounds its first time out.
Had one stovepipe and several failure to feed. The slide cycled fine, just wouldnt pick the next round up. Got better as the round count went up.
Was using Federal bulk 550 pack and Winchester bulk 555 pack. Both performed really well. Was able to get some tight groups with a few strays.

The gun is friggin filthy!
By far prolly my best shooting .22 pistol I have owned.
