GP100 vs SP101
« on: May 26, 2011, 10:56:29 AM »
I've decided it's time to add a revolver to my safe.  The only problem is trying to decided between the GP100 and the SP101.

I like them both.  Good, bad comments on either models?

Edit: Just noticed there was a whole thread about the SP101 a couple lines down. Doh!

I find the GP a bit hard to conceal carry and that's pretty much it. Not saying that it can not be done, it can, but for ME I would rather carry the SP.  If your going to keep it in your safe to add it to your collection, or for hunting, target shooting, and woods carry then the GP. This is just my opinion and others may want to do just the opposite. Both are great revolvers and you can not go wrong with either one.

A couple of years ago I had to make this same decision. I was not especially looking for another CC gun, in fact when I do carry my .357 it is OC in a custom made leather rig
After handling both guns. I found that my decision was EZ!
GP for me!
I am not saying that the SP is not a great gun, IT IS.
Just that the GP fit my need for a well made, & acurate wheel gun in .357.
It is one of my favorite guns!  8)

I would not be carrying it so the size and weight would not be too much of a factor.

Might come down to which one do I buy now... and which one do I buy at Christmas  ;D

If your not goin to carry it go with the GP100 its got ajustable sights and a bigger frame and barrell.I have a lot of 357mags for just shooting and plinking and trust me you will want Sights to shoot with.I have the Sp101 and its got no ajustable sights just that trench sight down the top and a small blade at the end.
