S&W 686 or 586. Preferably with a 4" barrel

Colt trooper (used) are a solid choice too.  Nothing wrong with a GP100 but it lacks the class of the smith and colt.

+1 on the 4" 686. I've got tens of thousands of rounds through mine and its still shooting nickle sized groups with cheap LRN ammo.

I have had great success with Ruger revolvers. I love the way they feel in hand and their construction is bomb proof. I would love to get one of those Talo exclusive models one day for myself.

I've got a Charter Arms UnderCover Lite chambered in .38 SPC, Use it as a BUG when I'm walking through the badder parts of BPT. I've got small hands and it fits my hand nicely. And even though I don't like revolver(i actually hate them  >:( GRRR) Charter Arms is in Shelton so I have to support them. It's also less than a lb. so it doesn't feel like much when used in an ankle holster. Last and only revolver I'll ever own.  ;)
