Where do you buy your supplies?
« on: February 21, 2012, 07:27:16 PM »
I'm just getting into reloading, trying to find the best deal on primers, powders, and bullets. I want to buy in bulk to save as much as possible.

Usually the best buys are from local people getting out of the reloading business or switching calibers and unloading lesser used stock.
Many shops deal in secondhand presses and dies and you can find some deals by simply keeping your eyes open.
Bullets, brass and other non-hazmat items...local sportsmans tag sales, sites like this and accuratereloading.com (flat-rate priority boxes make bullet and brass shipments quite affordable).
Wal-Mart in Old Saybrook carries powder and primers for reasonable although powders are limited to Clays, Red Dot and Unique.
Mail order with several others and that can make hazmat and shipping quite bearable, too.
My mail-order business has gone to Graf, Midsouth, Sinterfire and Polygunbag mostly. Natchez, Midway, Powder Valley look decent, too.
Oftentimes, you can waste more time and effort in the pursuit of saving two or three dollars, so you have to figure if all of this is worth the effort. Driving to Cabela's to save a dollar, when Hoffmans is twenty miles closer, might not make sense.

Order in bulk to make the hazmat worth it and order online from powder valley.

Powder Valley or Wiedeners for primers and powder.  As far as the bullets I buy mostly cast if I'm just punching paper.  It's much cheaper and Missouri bullet has good prices on that.  If you buy primers and powder online buy a lot because you will have to pay a 20 something hazmat fee anyway.
