Glock 42 availability?
« on: January 21, 2014, 01:27:53 AM »

Hey everyone, just curious to know if anyone knows if the new 42 is out for sale yet? Just recently heard about this from a buddy and wanted to take a closer look at it. Anyone know of a dealer near Danbury with one in stock? And what prices it will go for? Thanks all!

It was just released at SHOT, so don't go around annoying gun shop staff by asking if they have seen them yet.

My understanding is they should be available for order today, I've got a G41 in the cue, and the range has ordered at least (4) G42's that I know of.

I'm going to check today, and see if we can get an update on actual availability.

So, how exactly are we supposed to determine if a store has them?  My thinking is if I ask my LGS if they are getting them, they would know if they were getting them, right?  If they aren't, then I could ask to order one, right?  If an LGS can't take being asked about availability of a gun, do you really want to buy something from them?  I say, no!

Not trying to be argumentative, but it just seems bizarre that an LGS would be opposed to answering a question about availability, as this can lead to a sale.  Getting upset about answering that question could cost that store a customer.  It generally takes 5 new customers to replace 1 lost customer and in CT, those 5 new customers may be hard to get as social media brainwashes our youth into believing guns are bad and if you want a gun you are bad.  I would think it much easier to answer the question and support that potential customer as much as possible in hopes of making that potential customer into a repeat customer.

On that note, if someone see's a G42 let us all know where they are so we don't have to ask  :P

There's going to be large demand, I'd guess. If you're not a dealer or friends with one, you're going to be out of luck for a while.

I wouldn't assume that anyone knows when, and how many they will be getting.

The minutes the SKU hits the systems, many of the orders will be on back order by default (simple supply/demand)

Similar to the M&P Shield (9) when it came out, very elusive creature.... what ever was released to the distributors was quickly eaten up.

Calling around asking if someone has something, hardly makes you a customer.... walking into a store, asking if they have it, and dropping a deposit down, or paying in full for the next one that comes in.... that's what makes you a customer.

It was just released, and I'm sure it will be a hot seller.... so I'd get ready for a wait, and or visit your LGS who you've established a relationship with, and have them place one on order.  If you are an instant gratification type, then visit/call every shop and see what's available.

We've got several of the G42's on order, I'll post what if any are available once they arrive (assuming that the shop ratz don't grab them all).  I did this when we had a few 9mm Shield, they went in seconds.

Not sure Steve, I'll check.... nobody seemed aware of the SHOT releases, so I'm glad I mentioned the G41/42 to the owner.

I will be snagging a 41 when they get in stock. I have been waiting for a 45 long slide for a long time to sleep next to my other long slide Glocks in the safe.

Ask the dealer, that's what they are there for, to answer customer questions.  Dont ask a dealer????  LOL
