I had a friend who brought a Taurus Judge to a private hunt on a club property and took a quail (I think) with a 410 load.  He's also a proficient trap shooter.  He keeps the feathers in the 410 shell on the top of his safe.  Pretty funny

I started shooting skeet with my Mossberg 835... and have since gotten an O/U.
Almost everyone starts out using whatever shotgun they have lying around. The 870 used to be a staple in skeet before all these fancy guns with their brass triggers came out.
Bring it out there, have some fun. Who knows? You might get hooked.

I use my Maverick 88 with 20" barrel. Yea... sometimes I wish it was longer (that's what she said! ziiing!) and eventually I'll get an O/U, but right now funds are being directed at the semi-auto items....

Maverick 88 with 20 inch, how does that work for you?

Able to shoot 66-75% and I am by no means a proficient shooter. It's generally me and a buddy (who has a Mossberg with 18.5" barrel). It's about spending a nice sunny Sunday afternoon outside hanging out than trying to impress anyone with our shooting abilities.

That sounds good to me.  I think when it gets warmer I'll give it a try.  After all 75% with a shotgun that is not designed to shoot skeet sounds pretty good to me.

TBH it's generally more towards the 66% but sometimes I have a good day. My buddy generally shoots much better even with his Mossberg.

Hmmm...  Would it be permissible to shoot slugs with proximity fuses that detonate in an air-burst charge against clay pigeons?  ;D

Dont know if that would fly but I have used political yard signs for shotgun practice.  They do hold up well to the abuse and it is kind of relaxing to take out some frustration on the libitards that run for office.

I have used an Ithaca Stakeout for casual clays with success.  I don't think it would work too well at a trap field.

I use my 590A1 to shoot clays and it's fine.  A little heavy for girls when they come along though.  Coach gun also works just fine :)

Found someone who has the same model as I was planning on using.
