Walmart in Hartford doesn't carry ammo anymore.  The Manager said due to the Newtown shooting and the fact that inventory was "disappearing" they stopped ammo sales.  Something tells me it was more the latter.

On a side note, I remembered Kmart many years ago sold guns and ammo, but no longer.

Since CT Walmarts stopped selling long guns a number of years ago, while they were selling even AR15s in other parts of the country, I have no doubt that politics has EVERYTHING to do with it!  Maybe they are just getting ahead of the paperwork nightmare that ammo sales will turn into after laws like SB1076.

It makes no sense for a retail store to stop carrying a product because it sells too well (disappears off the shelf).

If this is not a political decision made by management, it may just be that the Walmart chain just can't keep a reliable supply.  Or in other words, they cannot control the price in the way their business practices demand.

In either event, I will miss buying the Winchester White box for the range.  All good things must come to and end I guess.  fracking Lanza.
Politicians, like diapers, should be changed frequently and for the same reasons.

Most Walmarts stopped selling guns because it was such a small portion of their sales percentage.  It wasn't worth it for them to keep someone trained in the process to make a few sales per week.  My local Walmart carried guns for years, but it didn't look like anyone was ever buying them.

I was told that the ammo shortage was a supply issue.  They can't order it because corporate is trying to distribute to all stores evenly based on availability.

However, if background checks become mandatory for ammo purchases, I would expect Walmart to stop carrying it.  Again, ammo is so small compared to all the money the store makes on other product, they wouldn't miss it.

I don't know why I bother looking, since I only shoot my home-brew, but OSB has WWB 180gr FMJ in .40 S&W (~$19.37) and one box of CCI 250's. Other popular calibers non-existent.

Seems to be their top-of-the-line (Modern Sporting Rifles) hunting round for .223 Remington. With a fancy acronym like that, it should be another 50 cents more per round!

Grafs doesn't seem to have the MSR, just the Fusion...

Premium product means roughly $1.25 a round apparently.

Thanks.  I guess it would be  a decent defensive round.  It was weird, ammo shelves were BARE but  2  stacks of this and the usual 17wmr etc is all they had.
