Title: looking for Lead shot
Post by: shermer-high on February 09, 2019, 06:48:34 PM
I'm trying to find some lead shot prefer #7 1/2 or 8 but I can go down to #6 anyone know where I can find some?

I saw some in CT Reloading in North Branford today.  25 lb bags, price wasn't marked.  If your intended use includes clay target sports, in my experience no club allows anything larger than #7.5 shot.  On the other hand, if you're filling the handlebars of your Harley to cut down the vibration, #6s will work just fine.

Actually it's for the drivetrain counterweight in the BB-8 we're building.

Heritage in West Warwick usually has plenty in the store. Can't say what the prices are.

If you want me to navigate, I'll go along with you.
D&L and Midstate Gun Co. are also within a small radius of Heritage.
Unlikely, but the WalMart in Old Saybrook used to carry shot, hulls, wads, primers, powder, etc. Might be worth a call.

I had to google BB-8 (I'm old, what can I say)- that's a Star Wars thing?  How many pounds of shot do you need?

A 25 lb bag at retail will probably run $45 +/-.  You can buy a 4 pack of 1.125 oz Federal shells at Walmart for $22, cut open the shells, and net about 7 lbs. by my calculation.  PITA for sure, but probably the cheapest way to get what you need, unless some kindly soul donates to the cause.

I'm in Bristol. BB8 is a Star Wars droid it's orange and white and shaped like a ball. It's a pretty complicated drivetrain and a lot of 3D printing to build one. I do have R2-D2 I built but my wife wanted BB8. What can I say I have a lot of interests besides guns. :azn: Here is a pic of some with a bunch of other droids at an event I was at last summer.

Not a problem.
Most won't run over to RI from western CT, but fwiw, most 8-pounders (Red Dot, Green Dot, 700x, Clays, Promo, E3, etc.) are priced at $143-$147, centerfire primers at $30ish.
