Title: Sealcoating Hot Rubber Crack Filling
Post by: THE MADNESS on October 04, 2013, 11:49:39 AM
I am offering High quality seal coating done by myself ,(not a crew of guys that come in and knock it out after we agree on the job). I also do hot rubber crack filling. The product I get is from a Commercial company, (not the stuff you get in 5 Gallon buckets at a Big Box store). The Rubber is heated to a point of 450 degrees then applied over your cracks, Then topped with a black sand. The sealcoating itself has sand in it that is suspended in it; this helps for traction. Some of the products on the market do not have sand in it and when applied it may become slippery when wet.

Please contact me via cell phone, a call or text is fine.
203-733-3420

i am located in the monroe, Trumbull,Monroe newtown area but will typically travel 30min outside of the area. if the job is big enough i will travel even further.

thanks for looking.

I just had my driveway paved in late April. Some info I have read has said it give it 6 months to cure and others have said at least a full year before coating it.

What do you suggest?

6month is way to soon. Even at a a year you should still be good.
With seal coating, you are replacing the finer pieces of aggrege and binder that get worn away (via traction of tires, rain, snow, ice, UV (weather).

I would wait.

if you get any cracks, they should be tended to asap though, this is where water and ice get into the base material and start to cause some serious damage. Smaller/fine cracks are usually filled with seal coating and larger cracks and voids are banded together with hot rubber. Filling a crack to the top isn't necessary if banded properly. Banding is a process of filling the crack with some material and also allowing material to attach itself to either side of the crack.

Thanks for the honesty.  The driveway is crack free and has a gd pitch so hopefully it'll stay trouble free.

Remind me this time next year please. ;)

He does brush because he did my driveway and did a great job.  I highly recommend him.

I apply the seal coating a couple different ways. I can do it by hand with 3-4 foot wide brushes. This is the most expensive way of doing it due to the amount of time it takes. There is likely a chance of seeing brush marks too on the drive way (with spraying you don't get that, just a little where you cut-in around the garage door, sidewalk etc).

I can also do it by spraying. I will cut in by hand where need be and spray out from there. Spraying gives a more uniform look.

then there is a hybrid method that has both in it's application. I cut in where need be, spray the rest and go back and brush over the top, this allows me to make sure the sealing material is getting worked into all the small cracks and poors of the asphalt.

depending on your asphalt condition and other factors(if you have cobblestone edging and apron, plants, garden beds etc) will more than anything be the deciding factor of how the sealing can be applied.

also, people say that when you spray you get less material on the driveway, not necessarily true all the time. That also depends on what size tip I use on my gun. One tip I have uses more material than if I was to do your drive way by hand. And it can go the other way too, I have one that put out a very small amount of material(typically used as a semi-cut-in tip and also used on windy days.

any other question feel free.

And please don't buy that piss in the. 5 Gallon buckets from the big box stores, because you will find out real fast that their coverage they claim is total b.s. among other things.

Question, when is a paved driveway too far gone to salvage?

Wife and I bought a house last year and we knew the driveway was in rough shape when we got it.  Numerous cracks, several of which this year started growing grass... so I am assuming that can't be a positive development.

The MADNESS did 2 of my personal driveways for me last year. I also managed properties for work which he did a few for those as well. He did a great job. The material he uses is def better than what other guys use or that garbage at home depot. Its help up its nice finish over last years winter which was real bad.
I would absolutely use him if you are thinking about it. I also like the fact that it was him doing the work, not a bunch of knuckleheads.

It's hard to find someone who does what they say and stick to their price.  He did both.  I highly recommend him..

Madness is the only guy I would use for this type of work.  Dealt with him on several occasions, he's a knowledgeable, fair and upright guy who does what he says and is a pleasure to deal with.

Well you guys were right about The MADNESS.  He sealed my driveway yesterday and did an awesome job.  My driveway has quite a few large cracks. In the past when other contractors hot filled my cracks they always sank in within hours.  MADNESS filled the hell out of my cracks last week! (yikes, don't quote that our of context).  The cracks are all nice and level!   Great job MADNESS, thx!
Nice to see that someone still has a strong work ethic, shows up on time and does a quality job at a fair price.  I'll be using him again in the future and will recommend him to others.
Cheers

thank you for the oppotunity to work for you.
i try my best.

not bad for a guy too that just lost his dominent eye 2 months ago.

thats right folks. not many people know. 2 months ago i had a really f'd up accident.
a bungee cord let loose and the metal hook hit me directly in my right eye.
it exploded my eye. it hit my eye so hard the it tore all the muscles on the side of my eye.
fractured my orbital bone as well. i had bits of my eye on my forehead and face.
i looked into a mirror; after it happened and had instant acceptance. i knew i would never see again, it was that bad looking. got to the er and they did what they could. the trauma sergeon looked at it and said it was out of his hands. they called in some specialist and they stitched whatever material was left back together to help keep out infection. next day aftet waking up from surgery i had a talk with the docs. i looked at them with my one good eye and said"whatever you do from here on out, dont b.s. me". they told me it was one of the worst orbital ruptures they have seen. so at this point i still cant see out of it. my pupil is wide open all the time. it'll stay in for now. if things get sideways i am prepared to get a ceramic one.
and yes they will make me a custom G.I.T.V. one, at a heafty cost though. so if i do get one it'll look just like my other one.

thank you all for the opportunity to work for you and for your thought and cares.

Madness filled my crack and was nice enough to check out my driveway too.

In all seriousness, my dad mentioned he was thinking about getting our driveway done. I PM'd The Madness and passed on his info to my old man. They made arrangements and he came when he said he would to take a look. He then came (again, right on time) to do the work. The driveway looks great, and my dad is very happy with it. So, like the others have said, definitely give him a call if your driveway needs work.

If you need mulch, stone or dirt deliveries I can do that too.

Shoot me a text on the cell If you wanna get in line.
203-733-3420. Thank you for looking
and thank you for all the guys that hired me last year.
and one again to all the guys that helped me out in december. God bless you all.

Madness did mine last year, maybe last one of the season. Could not be happier with the job he did. One problem was he kept sticking his fingers in and licking the cracks.
Seriously, I couldnt have bought the materials and tools for what he charged.

Have to have you back for touch ups. Snowmobile studs and skis did a number on it this winter.....lol.
