Re: Larger caliber rimfire?
by CTSixshot | Today at 10:04:25 AM
Although many don't reload, it just seems a waste to shoot once and discard. I can't say how these rimfire cases were manufactured, but do they have the heft to withstand the higher pressures of most c-f offerings? It seems as though most were quite thin around the web and head area. Even rolled or balloon head cases went the way of the horse whip. (a la Westfield, MA)....
Re: Mini 14 stainless ranch accuracy experience
by Will1776 | Today at 09:51:34 AM
Good Video, I was satisfied with the Mini's results after that first demo at 250 ... but glad I kept watching to see that grouping at 100.Definitely going to have consider this rifle for a future purchase!Although I'm picking up an AR today (out of state now), I know at some point in the future I'll pick up a stainless Mini. Only reason I got the AR is because I can use it as both my long range and carbine set up for now rather than buy the Mini and a long range bolt action.  ...
Re: Ruger Ranch Thirty
by Bottom Rung | Today at 09:48:17 AM
I could see adding one of these to the safe eventually. I like the threaded barrel and Mini 30 magazine acceptance. I also like the way it looks with a nice 2-7x33 mounted nice and low. Although, I can't stand Ruger's flimsy American stocks, but I could make an exception. ...
Re: Yay! Connecticut Is Third Worst "Financial Sinkhole" State
by imahangtia | Today at 08:49:02 AM
Has Malloy vetoed the GOP budget that passed yet?I don't think so, because the Fox61 propaganda station has been really pushing the veto by putting on almost only individuals and groups who support a veto (UConn, union workers, etc).  Due to my recent schedule I have not seen any other local TV stations lately nor looked at any CT news websites....

I like this guy. I think he'd be enjoyable to hang out with and chat. I do find it interesting that he seems to only train to shoot pets, midgets and small children. ...
Re: Who wants a CT Legal semi-auto .308/7.62x51 detachable mag firearm? :D
by MadSmith | Today at 12:35:41 AM
OK then - doesn't it have to be an AOW, or is it still 26" in the folded configuration? ATF measures the OAL with the 'cheek rest' unfolded.  It doesn't matter if one fires it folded.  In the same way that a regular rifle with a folding stock, doesn't magically change its status from a class1 firearm into an evil unregistered NFA SBR if fired with the stock folded, even if the length with the stock folded is less than 26in.  ...
Re: 50 State Legal Suppressed Rifle.....
by MadSmith | Today at 12:31:25 AM
Same as the ATF decision with regard to air rifle suppressors - ie - if it is permanently attached to a non-firearm, then it does not fall under the purview of the ATF....

Re: Preban AR-15 Face to Face transfer question
by joelcramer | Yesterday at 01:19:36 PM
An I right in the concern that with the latest Judge comments that a "Colt Sporter Target" may be considered a "Named" AW of the original Ban? Meaning that at this point it could not be transferred as a standard preen AR-15.Thank you for the help. I hate the fact that there even needs to be this much question and concern about this. There has been no official guidance from the state on any of this. Every time I ask I get "Nothing yet keep doing whatever you are doing". But then again I only talk to the peons. At this point the buying and selling of banned by name is on a case by case basis. We never really know what is going to happen because the state will not tell us.So we really have no way to know....

Re: Shotgun repair advice cracked stock
by DINK | Yesterday at 06:08:08 AM
I'll second the recommendation for Bud Chaples.  He is an absolute wizard with wood and can repair smashed stocks so well you can't find the damaged area afterward, even though you know it was there....
Re: .380 vs. 9mm
by JBear | Yesterday at 06:03:07 AM
Oh. Interesting theory. My 9 is more accurate than either of those Lugers proved to be in that test, and far more powerful than my 380. Which, incidentally, is more accurate than either of those Lugers as well- not to mention easier to conceal. In fact, I'd be willing to bet  both my carry guns are easier to conceal than either of those Lugers. Regardless, as to which caliber is better... fortunately I carry them both. ...

Re: Contact state about permit status?
by ffederico | September 20, 2017, 07:34:41 PM
I just spoke with Annette at SPBI, and was informed my prints were received on September 8th. I was fingerprinted and submitted my application with local PD on August 23rd!  That is 16 days later!  Absolutely ridiculous.  Also, she mentioned requests from late July and first week of August are currently being processed. So they didn't meet the mandated 5 business days to send your application to the SPBI, so that's a constructive denial and you could technically start the appeals process now if you want.  It's free and won't hurt anything to get the process started.  If you get your permit before the appeals hearing - don't forget to cancel the appeal...
