I assumed @steevo was joking because I don’t remember reading any pet about retroactive taxes. But make no mistake, the thieves in Hartford would do it in a second if they thought they could ram it through.

Funny how this new tax snuck through without much being said about it in the local media or by local Democrat politicians.

This new tax is going to surprise a lot of people.
Potentially, a government is the most dangerous threat to man's rights: it holds a legal monopoly on the use of physical force against legally disarmed victims.

Heard about this yesterday on the radio... :wall:

Backpedaling:
https://www.courant.com/politics/hc-pol-lamont-review-prepared-foods-tax-20190917-tja7mnvgebagjicpwnnanps4la-story.html

"Gov. Ned Lamont has directed his budget office and the state tax department to scale back a 7.35 percent tax on prepared foods set to begin Oct. 1 after lawmakers complained it is being interpreted in a broader fashion than they intended."

This is only because overall tax revenues came in higher than expected and this can be afforded to be deferred (for now).

EDIT: I wish there were enough 2a lawmakers to "complain SB1160 was interpreted in a broader fashion than they intended."

And a non-biased media that would not suppress the public backlash.

The $12 homeowners insurance policy surcharge went into effect 1/1/2019.
I haven’t seen it show up on the itemization of my policy deck yet.
That was out of the 2018 session.
