Mattabassett R&PC?
« on: June 01, 2019, 01:14:53 PM »

Any members on this forum?
Do you know if the c-f rifle pin shoots are still being held?
If so, are they held at 0900 hours or after the CFP plate shoot?
Thanks!

Well, try it next month, maybe; simply too far to drive only to find the gates locked or little to no interest in the rifle match.

A number of years ago I went to one of their plate matches.  The people weren’t too friendly but it was decent enough so the next month I brought a couple people.  Apparently the club president wanted to run a pistol permit class in the club house and didn’t want any noise so he closed the range and told everyone to go home.  When I mentioned I drove 45 minutes to get there only to be turned away I got a lecture by a couple members that this is private club and I shouldn’t be there anyway.  Even though the event was open to the public.  Never seen a club full of so many jerks. Later I found out a friend was a club member and he said the club is terrible and he only goes cause he lives nearby.

Yes, the internal squabbles were festering back when I used to attend matches there. That's half the reason I'm reluctant to drive all the way up there without any assurances that the matches will be held. Even then, attendance at the rifle shoots was sparse and they cancelled the matches.
I'll check them out when I am up there on other business, so it won't be a total waste of a trip. Thanks.

Hi Everyone, I'm a member there and the shoots are still on the electronic calendar. That doesn't mean anything though. The schedule was one 22 match a month then one center fire match.  I think the match director is giving up the job. I work swing shifts so I cant make many matches. The club has a divide between the competition guys and the hunter types. We used to run a match every weekend and the place was hopping but not anymore. Sorry it was a long winded way to say I am not sure.
I do know sprauge still does shoots on the weekends.  Pete

Thanks, peteinct!
I guess I should look back into Sprague, although they don't do a c-f rifle pin shoot, do they?

CTsixshot, Every other Sunday Sprauge has a pistol only pin shoot. They have 2 classes semis and revolvers. The tables are deep the pins need a solid hit with a powerful round to clear them. It is set up man vs man round robin style. They have IDPA on the other sundays.

I take it that there is no c-f rifle pin shoot nor pistol plate match at Mattabassett tomorrow? Events calendar states range maintenance, but who knows if this is current?
Any input from MR&PC members would be appreciated....

No more shoots at MRPC. I got an email saying they couldn't get someone to run them. Its sad because I had lots of fun at them and met a huge amount of good people. Not being able to do stuff like go to matches or help is a major drawback of working rotating shifts. Pete

Thanks "peteinct".
You are the only one that seems aware of what's up in Berlin. I figured by the lack of info on the calendar that things weren't happening.
It is too bad!
I recall the days when MR&PC was an every Saturday stop for me and Emilio (we came up from Fairfield County).
