Yup.  Great motto to live by... applied to guns and picking wives lol

Good stuff isn’t cheap, and cheap stuff isn’t good.

Was at Delta this afternoon to pick up a transfer. I asked to see one of the base model CT-Compliant "Others" and get a few pictures. Overall, good balance front-to-rear, no upper/lower slop, and seemed like decent fit & finish on the lower. The lower felt like 6061, but I could be wrong. Definitely an A2 lower, obviously- not weirdly stylized like a lot of the 6061 lowers out there.  I did not ask about specifics, but whoever casts an "S" on the lever-side of the safety selector is whoever they are using for lower parts. This was a 5-minute fondling, so just first impressions. I have definitely seen far worse in new cheap ARs.

And of course their rentals are pleasant to the eye.

How could you discern 6061 from 7075? The lower is a forging, and considering how cheap they are these days i would be very surprised if its not 7075.

It's something about the sound it makes when you tap it or similar- the feel of it, density (sorry, vague). I weld alloys so I tend to wonder about firearm parts/components.

S marked lower parts are probably from L.W. Schnieder. Oems use them, colt stag etc.
