Watching 'Wandering Earth'...
« on: May 09, 2019, 09:24:54 PM »

So, this is a 'fun' movie, good sci-fi flick...

But...

I feel dumber than I was before I started watching it. The Math and science is.. well... below elementary level.. :suicide:

Great visuals.  Truly HORRIBLE premise.  It should be classed as fantasy, what with all the things they get WRONG.

I thought it was terrible and non-sensical. It boggles the mind it made almost $1Billion. We make fun of hollywood and they do make some crappy films but they have the art of making films down. This movie was worse than a high school project. Yes it had a high budget but the story was total garbage. The directing was garbage. The acting was garbage.

Yeah good special effects. Horrible acting, plot/story line and god awful editing. The main problem I had with it was the whole movie felt like a series of disjointed scenes cut together where the story doesn't flow along. Several characters (like the white haired kid) were worthless. I assume because it's aimed at the Asian/Chinese market perhaps they found it a satisfying movie due to their culture.  :dunno:

Did like the scene with the Gatling gun though because it was so over the top. No way the guy could carry that much ammo (the ammo pile)  ;D

mostly they watch for the visuals overseas, so plot doesn't matter so much. explains why splashy comic book/action/special effects movies do so well there. also crappy or nonsensicle plot is less likely to offend the CCP so they'll allow it to be shown.

Yeah the blonde kid would have been kicked out the airlock long ago.

They chinese govt probably invested in the movie and then ordered everyone in china to watch it 2x at least.  :takethat:
