Potentially, a government is the most dangerous threat to man's rights: it holds a legal monopoly on the use of physical force against legally disarmed victims.

Funny, but considering he's a mechanic, he doesn't seem to know the difference between launch control and the rev limiter pulling spark..

Can't blame the cops though by the sound that POS sounded.

When he shut the car off the first thing the fat cop should have said was sorry about that. Not attack him for not telling them about the car. Not that the cop gave him much of an opportunity in the beginning.

Sure I get that the cops came to check it out no problem with that.

The launch control does pull spark.  It sets a lower rev limit until the car starts moving.  That way you can flat foot the launch.

On the other hand that is pretty nasty.  A rev limiter shouldn't do that it should just go flat, maybe warble a bit.   If you want to hear what a decent rev limiter sounds like check out Ken Block's videos, he is on the rev limiter constantly.

I'll bet that is cutting the spark off completely with a short hysteresis.   When the spark comes back it lights off whatever unburnt fuel is in the exhaust.

I have launch control on my M car it doesn't work like that. The point in real LC is not to let it rev beyond the power band. Maybe aftermarket junk actually lets the car rev then pull spark , but I think it's just to show off the fireballs and pops on ricers.
Also, LC doesn't engage out of gear or neutral. On any car..

Rev limiters do exactly the opposite. Revs to a set rpm, pulls spark and or fuel from set cylinder.
That will get you pops. Used to in my vette.
