You are way short on reasons why the AR is so much better than the Mini 14.
Lets add the ability to change calibers. The ability to fix your own gun. The ability to get off the shelf parts from a dozen sources and all are affordable. I bet these are not even covered in the video. There are lots more benefits that make the AR a much better gun than the mini 14 by a long shot.
There are any number of reasons why the AR platform may be and is better than the Mini platform. But at the end of the day it comes down to what the buyer is looking for. Not everyone cares about the reasons mentioned about why the AR platform has more advantages than the Mini. Some will buy the Mini simply based on looks, other will buy the AR simply based on cost.

Like said previously the Mini platform wouldn't be as popular these days if it weren't for the gun grabbers. And the A Team plays a small part (at least in the 80's) in the popularity of the Mini platform.

The Mini gets a lot of ribbing, some deserved, some not. On a side note, there are those of us who do remember what Bill Ruger did in the lead up to the 94' crime bill.

Potentially, a government is the most dangerous threat to man's rights: it holds a legal monopoly on the use of physical force against legally disarmed victims.

YMMV but I had two mini's years apart to see if there was any improvement and sold both of them. No thanks, I'll stick with the AR platform.

^^^The video is not about what is currently available for the Lego AR's.  He was comparing a vintage Mini 14 to a vintage AR of approximately the same time.  The video is not a comprehensive comparison, but a useful comparison for people not familiar with one or both of the rifles.
Even in 1973 the AR was a much better gun and today even with the "improvements" to the Mini 14 the AR is still a much better gun. The improvements on the AR are even better that those of the Mini 14. The AR actually made improvements where the mini 14 only tried to correct the shortfalls. Even in the 70s and 80s AR parts were readily available and repairs were still able to be done by the end user. Not to mention that after a few magazines the mini 14 could not hit the side of a barn at 100 yards. Why would make a comparison video based on vintage models. If it is a limited comparison it is a useless comparison because it does not give all the facts and will leave the people not familiar with one or both of the rifles without the full scope of information needed to make an informed opinion. Or maybe the video is designed to direct the opinion of the people not familiar with one or both of the rifles.

I guess he got a lot of flack from that video! But to be honest to compare 2 antiques is a bit of useless information todays market. Unless you are looking at buying an old school AR or old school Mini 14.
