Massachusetts Non Resident Carry Permit?
« on: February 10, 2019, 12:28:39 PM »

Anyone have one? Did they put restrictions on it? I go there often enough where I would like to carry.

I noticed on the application that you have to check off the usual boxes(Unrestricted, employment. sport, target hunting),

then give your reason why you want it, lol....

Thx

I have one. No restrictions on it. They require an in-person interview and they will ask you a few more times why you want it. They don't want to hear the "for all legal purposes" type of reason either. Have to renew it every year ($100 each time), but at least they let you renew by mail now. Used to have to go for a new in-person interview every year. The drive to Chelsea sucks.

I'm pretty sure non-residents are still $100/yr. Mine expires in August. I usually send my renewal in 90 days in advance and the renewal takes about 150 days to get approved. So every year I'm still 60 days or so without the permit. No grace period for non-residents.

I gave several reasons. My day job is in downtown Springfield (this was probably enough). Parking garage is half a mile or so from my office. I live in a border town (Enfield) so I'm in MA all the time. I'm also a member of the Springfield Sportsmans Club in Monson, MA. I do mention that I'm an FFL on the renewals, but I did have the Non-Res LTC before I had my FFL.

Usually the first issue year will be restricted to business & sporting use.  After that, given no issues, they will upgrade to unrestricted LTC.

You're best bet is to document an active "credible threat" or that you have been threatened or are a victim, if you want unrestricted. Saying it's your right under the 2nd will get you nowhere.

After you file your $100 non-refundable fee, you will be given an appointment for an interview, at which time prints and a pics will be taken.

Subsequent renewals are $100 p/year, but you will not need another interview for 6 years and can be done by mail.

Mail the renewal early, I usually send mine in 6mo in advance to be sure to have it.  Both times I waited 'till 90days in advance to renew, my license showed a month late.  You CANNOT carry if you do not have a current permit, saying it's in the mail or in process won't work.

If you let it expire, you will need to restart the process.

Not sure where you are getting you info from, I applied for unrestricted and received it without issues.

Nonsense, again I'm not sure where you are getting this from.

A guy on FB named Michael Rubino just had one at Diversified

Public Safety,  2458 Boston Post Rd. Guilford, last Sunday.

I had to work that day, or I would have gone. I'll keep my eyes

open for the next one.
