Yet another " Other" question
« on: February 07, 2019, 04:09:18 PM »

So I know the theory behind the vertical grip. But does it have to be a vertical grip, or would an AFG or similar be good to go. I saw someone was selling others with a folding/adjustable front grip, but if not in the vertical position are these legal?

No AFGs. Straight from my ATF examiner. Forward vertical grip. No requirement that it cant be folding as far as I know. Ask Madsmith, he is intimately familiar with both State and ATF.

As per ATF, fixed angled grips are not considered 'vertical' grips.  A folding forward grip that can turn vertical, is considered a vertical grip.  A very short 'stubby' grip is considered a 'hand stop' and is NOT considered a 'vertical grip'.  How they come up with these determinations, nobody knows.  But we're stuck with them.

Shut that sucks. I only use the vert grip with my ring and pinky fingers so most of it is a waste. I'll search around maybe find some thing that has a nice slope where it connect to the rail.

Thanks for the input Flat and Madsmith
