possible gun buy-back today in two towns ????????
« on: December 15, 2018, 08:15:08 AM »

I thought I saw a pop-up alert on my phone this morning about a gun buy-back in two different towns today.
I am checking the local news web pages - but I don't see anything.

I deleted the alert by accident.   It may have come from FOX61.

Has anyone else seen info on this?

Fox61 couldnt shutup about them about every 5 min on the news this morning. From my understanding the max is $200 gift card for stop n shop for evil assault weapons and $100 for handguns.

Looks like they're getting sneaky with this. This border lines being somewhat evil. Last minute letting people know, so firearm owners and dealers wont show up to save firearms from destruction. Thought they didn't like "evil" things or sneaky items like "loopholes"?

This is a new twist. Tonight on the news, either WVIT or WFSB, they said that they intend to check to see if any of them have historical significance and if so auction them off. So they pay $25 to $200 and if they find something valuable they make a profit. I suppose historically important firearms are better not destroyer but I can't help but dislike this. Conveniently they don't take information so there is no way to share the profits with whomever brought in that firearm.
I love CT. I've lived here my entire life, it's all the socialists and libtards that I hate.

They should do the right thing then n tell the person who brought it in to sell it on his own. This is the perfect reason why FFLs n other firearm owners should be on hand. People who really know firearms, not some "state expert".

Um,

"...The event is widely successful with anywhere from 60 to more than 100 guns being turned in by Hartford community members every single year. …"

Well 26 guns mostly revolvers, shotguns and bolt action rifles.  Some lucky individual did manage to get a $200 stop n shop gift card for their AK though  :dunno:

Sadly I think I only see 1 homemade handgun

Ive seen online discussion about assembly of home made guns with hardware store pieces achieving a 'buy back'.

Would be interesting if one assembled from said pieces with a 2x4 wood 'stock' all left in base colors, then assemble another all painted black with some grips & assaulty 'accessories'.

Which one gets the biggie gift card and makes it to the nightly newscast?

You can never have enough friends, horsepower, or ammunition.

Last time I went to one it was $200 for a handgun.
Saw a lot of $75 -$100 guns getting turned in.
Not that I would do that...
Guess they are wising up.
