Quick question: is the troy everyone's mentioning the PAR pump-action rifle or something else?

The Troy others the gunstore in waterbury sells, they even have one done up to be like an old late 60's colt commando minus the stock and a with a foreward grip. Has a fixed carry handle sight for nostalgia sake even.

Also, for the PAR’s price, you might as well save for the extra few hundred and buy the Troy “other” or it’s comparable competitor.

I'm also very interested in this - unfortunately with such a small market, it's very hard to get any kind of reviews on what's being sold. Madsmith is active on these forums and very responsive, I'm just hesitant to jump into something fairly blind.

I have tested the DLDs and Troys extensively. The DLDs are superior to all offerings I have seen in terms of build quality, accuracy, and consistency. They Troys work, and make a great range gun for an economical price but just don't compare to the DLDs. While I have not personally tested the New Frontiers and Radicals, going off of customer experiences in the range and the failures I have witnessed myself I can say they are shit. Too many problems that simply should not be there in such a simple platform

I am hoping to have a Red Planet soon to test, but don't really think I need to because Mad knows what he is doing.

we know the radicals are meh...... but if thats all you can afford now.... BUY IT

-- i heard that a lot of the new frontiers are having upper issues... not surprising....  I replaced the upper on my new frontier 9mm so no issues......

troys shoot fine with zero issues.....  for the price point..troys rails, sights and bcg are good for the cost... havent fondles the dld yet

Did you switch out the upper right off the bat, or did you try it first and found issues with it? Also what brand upper did you replace it with?
