Thank you for the response on Guilford. My understanding is the town can issue without the FBI or State response back but I’m unaware of them doing that unless the person had some sort of connection. I’m not discrediting you but I’m hearing reports from other towns of 18 weeks, 16 weeks, 13 weeks and these are suburban towns like Guilford. If you don’t mind me asking, did the people who got their permits have some sort of connection with the PD?  Thank you!

No connections that I know of.

How recently did guilford turn an application around in 5 weeks?  Was it recent? Supposedly the State is backed up and is only doing applications from May now.
That’s what I was told, as well. It’s getting exponentially more frustrating by the day.

Baron:

Did you speak with the State to confirm May?  I only heard it was May from second hand sources but knowing the State it wouldn’t surprise me. If you are past 8 weeks you should file an appeal

‘The State’ said they were: “All caught up.” Via the feedback I’ve unearthed Wethersfield is regarded as rather good.

The 8 week mark is but a few days away, at this point.

I'd wait a bit past 8 weeks for it to "go through the mail" and whatnot, but that's just me. Why clog the appeals process with needless claims?

If the State is truly caught up then yes I agree what is a few days over 8 weeks. But I heard (second hand) that they were backed up significantly.  If it turns out there is a significant backlog I would appeal to preserve your rights. Technically you are denied the day after 8 weeks and you have 90 days to appeal.  I applied July 8 so I hit 8 weeks this weekend. I’m hoping to get this resolved soon.

I'd wait till 10 or 12 weeks. Still well within the 90 days. It took me 9 weeks and a relative took 10, and that was without any "backlog."

Was that recent?  I agree if you got yours at 9 weeks then why bother filing an appeal. But if there is a major backlog that will delay you out to 16 weeks then you should appeal. If you don’t mind me asking what town did you and your relative get your permit in?

both from milford, which is good for issuing permits AFAIK and this was back in 2015. I may be wrong, but I don't think an appeal will expedite your permit, simply gives you a fallback if no issuance after 8 weeks + 90 days.

I’ve mailed my appeal.
