Meet CCDL’s Endorsed Primary Candidates

The CCDL Executive Committee recently released its endorsements for state-wide offices in the August 14th Republican Primary. These are the candidates we feel have best shown a record of supporting Connecticut gun owners in the past and have pledged to continue doing so in the future. There are only 5 weeks before the primary election, and these candidates will be making appearances all over the state. We urge you to go out and meet these candidates, ask them questions, and see for yourself just how strongly they support your right to keep and bear arms. If you like what they have to say, PLEASE consider donating some of your time or money to help them win on August 14th.

There are anti-gun candidates on both sides of the aisle who are also trying to win these elections. It’s imperative that CCDL members help our endorsed candidates win their elections, to show Hartford that gun owners are not going to allow our rights to be trampled any longer!

Remember, while CCDL is nonpartisan, only registered Republicans are allowed to vote in the Republican primary. If you are not registered to vote, or are registered as "unaffiliated", you still have time to register as a Republican so you can vote in this extremely important election. Just because you register as a Republican, you do NOT have to vote for all Republicans in the general election, and can change back to unaffiliated later if you want. If the pro2A candidates don't win the primary, we'll be stuck with gun grabbers in the November general election. Register here.

The Candidates

Candidate for Governor Tim Herbst:

Tim will be marching in the Enfield parade on Saturday July 7th . The rally point is at the corner of route 5 and Post Office Rd. There is parking at the Felician Sisters and you will see both a Tim contingent and a big elephant on the Enfield RTC float on Main St. Please be there by 9:30, at 10:00 they shut down the roads. You can RSVP online here, or you can contact Jordanne Anderson for more details.

Tim will also be at the next CCDL meeting on Tuesday, July 10th (see above)

See Tim’s personal ‘thank you’ video to CCDL for our endorsement.

Candidate for Lieutenant Governor Joe Markley:

Joe will be marching in the Enfield parade on Saturday, July 7th, at 11:00am. If you have time to march with Joe, please contact Pam Salamone to coordinate the parade route and meet up details.

On Thursday, July 12, Joe will be at the Colonial Tavern in Oxford from 5pm-8pm to discuss and celebrate the 2nd Amendment. Refreshments will be provided. Click here for more info or the RSVP.

Candidate for Attorney General Sue Hatfield:

Sue will be marching in the Enfield parade Saturday July 7th. At 11:00am If you can help support the campaign and march with her, please contact Jen Cusato to coordinate the parade route and meet up details.

Sue will also be at the CCDL meeting on Tuesday, July 10th (see above for more info).

If you don't know Sue and her story, here is an excellent interview with her that was recently published.

CCDL Campaign Workshop for 2018

At our meeting this coming Tuesday (see above), we will be presenting our popular new Campaign Workshop. This workshop will give helpful education for 2nd Amendment supporters to engage in upcoming elections.

Our members’ involvement in the 2018 elections can be the biggest asset to help defeat gun-grabbing politicians who are intent on stripping us of our rights.

This effort is necessary to help keep good legislators in office, and to help new candidates get elected. Anti-gun forces are lined up to help gun control type candidates who would surely hurt our right to keep and bear arms.

About the Workshop:

Importance of involvement
Basics of campaign strategies
What the other side is doing
Examples of victories
Q & A
Voter registration
