They (deer) seem to be a bit scarce this year, but we did have a turkey strut across the target one time a while back.

But it will be like teaching a pig to sing, a waste of your time, and you'll only succeed in anoying the pig.

Best deer suicide story was from two years ago when 3 deer jumped off the bridge on 84 just before Southbury and landed in the back of a friends pickup and on the roof of his horse trailer. One DOA and the other two ran off.

I'm curious to read the details of that.

In my mind I am reminded of action movies where people jump off bridges onto trucks and trains to escape or capture a bad guy etc.  I'm seeing 3 deer on a bridge: Wilber, Darrel, and Larry.

Darrel says, "Hey Wilber watch this!" and jumps.  Wilber and Larry look at each other in amazement, then with a boozed up smile put down their beers and say together, "Darrel!  We can do it better."  And they jump off the bridge.

Anyone remember years back when "Supposedly" a deer jumped out onto the merrit Parkway and landed on the back of a motorcycle?  May be urban legend or may have been elsewhere but I always heard it happened on the Merritt / Wilbur cross parkway!
There is no excuse that can be made, That can justify partaking in the needless slaughter of good pets, except complete ignorance!

A guy I work with hit a turkey on the Merritt last year. What a mess.

That happened, I remember the reporting on the TV news.

I've had to call a cold range a couple of times for both deer and turkey at the club. First time a group of half a dozen deer wandered out of the woods onto the range at about 80 yards and I called COLD! and we waited for about half a minute, and then they started grazing.
I yelled at them.
They looked at me.
I stood up, waved my arms and yelled at them.
They looked at me, with less concern.
I got up, and walked down range.
They paid no attention to me until I passed the 50 yard line, then one small buck, the only one there, lifted his head and just walked towards me.
"Hi, what's up?"
He came to about 10 yards and just looked at me.
"C'mon clear off!" I waved my hands at him. "Go, go, go!"
He finally got the message (which is good, 'cause I really didn't want to get stuck by even a little buck who decided he needed to make an example of the silly human) and he and his pals wandered off, in no particular hurry.
It wasn't lost on me that I had been sighting in my deer rifle.
