G5 mags come with a different base plate and follower, and only come in the "evil" flavor as far as I know.  They extend slightly forward, but don't fill in the cutout you are asking about.  Obviously I did not get the new mags

The fixed sight models are available with 10 round mags. A few of my distributors have said that the night sight & ameriglo models are only available with standard mags as of right now. I should have a 17 and a few 19's here in a few days.

I have a Glock 19 (Gen3), but would pick this up if I could actually carry it fully loaded in CT. Unfortunately, I don't see the point of carrying anything larger than a 26 or 43.

just buy some magpul pmags for the glock 19, there is no markings for the rounds like factory ones, bring them to engrave your gidt and have him laser 10 rounds markings on them and done. ;D

Finally made it to the range, brought both gen4/5 19's.  Put 400 rnds down range, 200 or so thru the gen5.

Game changer, nope.

If you hate the finger groves, you will probably like the gen5 deletion... grip does feel a little smaller.  Trigger is a little better, again nothing game changing.

Mag changes seem to be a little easier with the small modification to the the mag well.

Interestingly accuracy seemed better, although I was not shooting from a rest and using Glock factory plastic sights which I do despise.  Can't comment on the mags, as I only had g4 mags with me.  Running a 130ish pf load showed an improved ejection pattern compared to recent gen3/4's that suffer from BTF syndrome.  Next time I'll bring some ammo that is closer to factory power levels (shooting girly man caliber, at girly man velocities.... what can I say)

Gun was rock solid during the limited testing I did.

Fit was tighter in my RCS Phantom compared to my gen4 w/Glock extended slight stop.  Enough so that I'd look for a gen5 specific holster, at least in this case.  RCS just released a gen5 model ironically.

...put another 300 rounds thru her yesterday, still rock solid and I tried the RCS Phantom again, oddly it worked fine (must have been the belt I was running last week).

I'd guess hostler compatibility will be model depended (holster model that is).

Glad to hear it's running well for you.

I stopped by Central in Portland a week ago to check out the Gen 5s.  I really liked what Glock did.  All good solid, yet subtle, changes.  I would have bought one for the trigger improvements alone, had I not just recieved two SSVi Tyr triggers in the mail.

I'm looking forward to more updates on your experience with the Gen 5.
