I too recommend the TLR-1. I've had one for 6 years and still works perfectly. Never any issues.

Surefire X300/X3o0U -  screw on mount, and way too expensive.

TLR-1 HL 800 - screw on mount.

They are not screw on mounts, just the quick adapater plate is screw on.  It's actually nice because it comes with additional mounts, so if needed you can always change it over.

You get what you pay for, I fired almost 2000 rounds in 3 days with my x300u and it worked fine, although by the end of the class the weapon light was much dimmer with a nice coating of gun powder residue.  I've stayed with Surefire lights as it keep my battery inventory simple, as all model lights use the same C123 battery.

I looked up the M3X.  The attachment looks exactly what I want if it holds well, but it is only 125 lumens.  The light I have now is 220 lumens which is at the lower end of what I want.

After reading this thread I'm leaning toward the TLR-1

Thanks anyway.

TLR-1 guys, how long does it take to mount and dismount the light?  5-10 seconds, or a minute?  Does it require any tools to mount and dismount?

Depends how slow you are, how tight you installed it, and whether you have a coin in your pocket.

If its not so tight, you can unscrew by hand, if its too toght you can use a coin to get it started.

i guess if you did it really hastily you would be able to do it in ten seconds.

5-10 seconds I would say is a little faster   but less than 30.  I used to really crank it on there and needed a coin to get it off , but I've learned you need alot less torque if you push it forward against the rail slot.

Oh yer right!  Quick release!  Hmmmm....  $$$$$$, but I like the quick release soooo much.
