Just bought this exact rifle from grabagun and picked it up from my FFL on Friday. I ordered last Saturday and it was ready for pickup on Thursday. Haven't had the chance to shoot it yet but it seems good, especially for the price. Will let you know more once I actually try it out

I am a Savage fan. This is a great gun. You don't need to do anything to it unlike others where the trigger is the first thing to go. The stock is free floated and also good to go. Some say savage barrels are soft and wear out fast. But I doubt that any of us will kill one of their barrels. Even if you do shoot one out or just don't like it anyone can do a barrel swap on a savage.

Definitely let us know how it goes.  Where  do you shoot?  I have access to 100 and 200 yard ranges in Guilford.

I'm in Stamford so as far as I know, there is nowhere close with that distance. Anything over pistol range length I usually go up to our property in NY but that's almost 3hrs away. What days are you usually free? Once I get my scope and mount it maybe I can meet you to try it out.

I know it's been a few months, but I figured I'd update you.

I finally got to take the savage up to our hunting property in NY this past weekend. I mounted a Vortex Viper HST 6-24x50 (probably overkill considering the longest shot I'll probably get up there is around 500yards).

At 100 yards I'm getting great groups. I didn't actually measure the exact size of the groups. On one target I have 2 shots touching (only a 2 shot group). On another I have 2 shots in the same hole and a third touching (3 shots taken in group). I was getting groups in the same size range as my dad using his much more expensive steyr ssg 69.

We setup a few Redbull sized cans at both 100 and 300 yards and were able to turn them into tin scraps.

I feel 100% comfortable replacing my savage 7mm with this as my new hunting rifle and definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nicely priced 308.

If you have any specific questions on the rifle let me  know and I'll give you my experience with it.

....yeah just a little overkill, I run a 3.5x-15x on my .308 bolt gun.  I've always heard good things about the Savage's, sounds like good bang for the buck.

d*ck's was having a 40% off sale towards the end of July and the scope somehow slipped through their exceptions so I jumped on it

Definitely good bang for your buck on the savage though!
