Connecticut gun permits increase 73 percent in 2016

MIDDLETOWN — Gun enthusiasts in Connecticut believe concerns over changes to federal and state gun laws fueled a 73 percent increase in the number of pistol permits issued in the state last year.
The Bulletin of Norwich reported Saturday that state police issued nearly 30,000 new pistol permits in 2016, up from just over 17,000 in 2015.
Gun owners told the newspaper they believe reasons for the spike included worries that Democrat Hilary Clinton would be elected president and press for more gun control, and that Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy would seek more gun restrictions.
Pistol permits also increased in 2013, after Democrat Barack Obama was re-elected as president. Permits jumped to nearly 26,700 in 2013, up from about 17,500 in 2012. About 18,000 new permits were issued in 2014.

No matter the number it would be great to get them all on the same page, vote in unison and demand Constitutional Carry.

Well, just by those numbers from the last 5 years it's about 110,000 new permits.

Starting with a number of 179,000 in 2013 and using the numbers in the article I calculated a total of 270,000 as of the first of this year.

And why was there an uptick in permits? Because people fear Democrats like Malloy and Hillary.

And how many of those new permit holders STILL voted Malloy and Hillary knowing they wanted to take their guns?

There is really no way to tell. Another question would be how many voted at all.

To make changes we don't need to get people to change their votes we need to get the ones who don't vote to turn out.

I'll be interesting if a large share of the tens-of-thousands of new permit holders don't renew as their renewals come up over the next few years (regardless of increases). The state never seems to anticipate drops in sales tax collection- this is somewhat similar and would be a pretty big revenue collection hit, especially if massive permit increases occurred.
