Yes, it is open to the public.  There is no entry fee, however, there is a fee to participate in the different shooting options.  There will be raffles, including a gun raffle.  You can bring your own firearms for the events or use Club provided guns.

What sort of participation fees? $5? $10 each?

Sounds like most of that could be done with a shotgun, some with a 22? Update with details when/if you get them.

The fees vary depending on the event, but yes, in the $5-10 range.  There are all kinds of events.  You could bring a shotgun, .22 rifle, and handgun and have a full day.

Most of the rifle venues are $3. This includes a gun and ammo (might only be 2 to 5 shots). If you bring your rifle and ammo, it's still $3. The 300 yard gongs and golf balls were 5 shots, the running deer: two shots (across and back). There were scoped rifles (bolt gun and assorted ARs) for your use on the gongs. Needless to say, I couldn't even see the golf ball with irons on the FR-7.
In the military rifle event they had an AR and an M1. I'm sure for many it was the first time ever handling a Garand.
Can't say what the shotgun events cost and I didn't bother with any handgun or rimfire events Sunday (probably $3, too).
You can merely peruse the club facilities and spend nothing, if that's all you wanted to do.
Next chance  is November.

BTW, I was a really big spender: $9 for three shooting events, $3 for a losing raffle ticket and $1 for a coffee! Now I'll have to walk another four miles collecting returnable cans to become solvent again.

Another venue, the Meriden R&G Club, hosts two similar affairs. I completely missed the Spring event (24 March), but they also have a Fall Cast & Blast. $10 AYCE food, trap, rifle, pistol, archery, private pond fishing, etc.

Don't you hate it when everything happens on the same day?

Groton Sportsmen's Club Field Day

Fall FIELD DAY and TURKEY SHOOT

9:00 am-3:00 pm 11/18/18

Members are invited to bring your Family and Guests to the Fall Field day at the Stonington Club Grounds. All Ranges will be active including Rifle, Shotgun, Pistol, and Archery. Instruction and games will be available. First 35 Winners will receive Turkeys. Gift cards will be awarded after that.

Breakfast will be served at the regular time. Food will be available from the Famous Chef Heywood and his crew during the Event.

All Stonington ranges will be closed for “regular use” during the FIELD DAY event times.

They provide firearms and ammo, but you can bring your own, too. They charge a token amount for each venue, usually $3, whether you shoot your guns and ammo or theirs. Can't say what the trap fee is...?

Well, you missed it, if you're just reading this post for the first time.
Try again next Spring.

There is no Spring Field Day this year (2019).
