What happens if...
« on: February 20, 2012, 06:54:22 PM »
....a weapon we currently own gets put onto the AWB list for CT down the road? Is it a tough luck too bad hand it over now or is there any compensation?
Gun bans disarm victims, putting them at the mercy of murderers or terrorists who think nothing of breaking the gun laws.

It would depend if the new statute had a grandfathering clause or not. If it did, just like with the "banned by name" guns you could probably get a certificate for it up until a certain point then you would be SOL.

Right, as far as I understand, prior to the CT AWB going into full effect you were allowed to register your "soon to banned by name" weapons. If you missed the date you were SOL.

Dont know if they would include this clause in any possible future legislation, but I can tell you there was no proposed grandfathering for the recent Mag Ban attempt, but to be fair (?) this was stomped out quickly before any revisions could have been made.
