Old news but just found this myself.

http://ctmirror.org/story/5164/committee-scraps-gun-auction-bill

I have always thought auctioning firearms would be a viable income source for CT which used to be one of the largest firearm producing states back in the day. Who knows what they are "destroying" at those police turn ins. WW2 bringback 1911 turned a into manhole cover or turned into ~2k for the state. Which sounds better?

What is so difficult to understand about selling guns to collectors or dealers through the proper legal means? Not like a felon is going to be hiding out in an auction in hopes of scoring a firearm to commit their next crime with. They will obtain a firearm if they want regardless of if its at a state held auction or not.

"You auction off a gun and you wonder:  where could it show up next?" Stillman said. "Could it be used for another crime in the future?"

With that reasoning that statement could be put on any firearm sold in CT. I guess our permits, FFLs, and DPS are completely useless and meaningless.
Gun bans disarm victims, putting them at the mercy of murderers or terrorists who think nothing of breaking the gun laws.

We sometimes do bulk transfers, consignments or trades for estates where the former owner has died.  And also transfers where the owner got in trouble with the law and had 24 hours to legally transfer his guns before they were confiscated.   Some that couldn't be transferred were slated for destruction.  One such bulk transfer a few months ago had 2 original heirloom Thompsons seized and tagged for destruction.  It was heartbreaking!  Most 'crime guns' weren't actually used to shoot people, but were in the possession or ownership of a person charged with a different crime, or judged mentally incompetent.

Let's be blunt and call those people in that article who are afraid of auctioning 'crime guns' what they really are:  Superstitious and irrational.

They are not irrational, they are educated, have a plan and believe we have no right to own a gun. And are doing everything they can behind our backs, to eliminate civilian firearms ownership.

They believe every firearm they destroy brings them one step closer to thier goal.

They by the way, is the members of our state and fed gov and the people they employee to force their will against us.

With apologies to Jesus, the following comes to mind: "And He (Jesus) asked him (the demon), "What is thy name?" And he answered, saying, "My name is Legion: for we are many." The Gospel of Luke, Luke 8:30"

And with apologies to Shakespeare: duplicity, thy name is Obama!

One thing I have learned, which follows with CTShooter's comment:

Most irrational, or completely insane men & women... are actually very intelligent. For good or bad? Who knows... for us, yes it is bad, VERY bad. For them? They may perceive their actions as a step toward doing good.

However wrong they may be in their perception of what they are doing.
