How would you handle the situation...
« on: February 17, 2012, 09:46:48 PM »
I purchased an aimpoint pro from ar-15.com in October. I received the item and it was broken. The seller told me to send it in under waranty but I had to use his particulars because he was the original purchaser.  Long story short all communication with aimpoint was to him and now it's 4 months later. I confirmed he got it Tuesday to his house, but now that they sent him a new one he ignores my emails and contact attempts... I am about to drive to his house and knock on his door.  He is in VA and i travel ther for work. What would you do?

Your question made me look at Aimpoint's web site to find the terms of their warranty.

Warranty
Aimpoint guarantees its products to be free from original manufacturer defects in material and/or workmanship under normal use for a period of 2 years for professional or competition use and 10 years for personal use from the date of purchase.
Personal use shall mean: use of the sight in a way that implies less exposure than professional use.
Professional or frequent competition use shall mean: daily or highly frequent use of the sight in professional activities (military or law enforcement) or under conditions that could be compared to as professional.
The warranty is valid provided that the sight has not been misused, disassembled or tampered with in any way. Any attempt to disassemble or repair the product will void the warranty.
The warranty agreement is limited to the original owner and is not transferable.
Any warranty claim must be accompanied by a copy of the original receipt showing date of purchase.

I wasn't aware of those terms.

So the package was delivered Tuesday and today is Friday and you have had no contact. Do you know for a fact that this individual has been home during this time? I understand your concern however there could still be a reasonable explanation.

That is why the original owner exercised the waranty.  That isnt the question.

I remember when i won a gun on gunbroker, sent the guy a money order and didnt hear from or get a response from him for a week. I was kinda freaking since I sent him $250 (which is a lot to me). Anyways, a week after he messaged me back appologizing because he went on a camping trip with his family.

Try to not stress about it until a week or more has gone by... I am a very strssed out person and constantly over analyze things... not fun to do and doesn't do me any good. Sorry I can't give any real assistance. dont kill yourself stressing over it tho :P

Report him to the EE mods over there.  Is he a well known poster there or just one of those non paying members who only buys and sells?

He got back to me this morning at 4 am.
This was the responce I got. After I sent him the ups tracking number and delivery confirmation.
"Nothing has come yet unless somebody brought it in the house and didnt tell me about it. I'll check when I get home.

Sent from my iPhone."

I know he get's my emails on his phone and has just jerked me around during this whole deal. I'll give him another week and go to the EE moderator..  This was my first trade on ar15.com.  I think I will be sticking to ctguntalk.com.. Good people here.

Sorry to hear all of this sheet happened.

I've gotten burned on a few online deals too... believe me. That is why I rarely buy/sell unless it's FTF.

What an azz. Yeah make sure to report him to the mods as well as create a bad report on their EE feedback section so others can search for his screenname and find it.

Sound like he sold because it was broken and didn't feel like doing the warranty and now that it works he wants to keep it.

My thoughts exactly.

People, for the most part... are fickle creatures. Some blatantly dishonest.

I'd ream the hell out of him on his account (feedback section).  >:(
