Quarter Glass Replacement & Insurance
« on: November 25, 2011, 06:56:16 PM »
So my quarterpanel window got smashed out earlier today.  I have zero deductible glass and haven't had a claim in over 11 years but I'm concerned about my premium going up.  The replacement is probably about $325 and my premium goes up an average of 5-7% a year because of other drivers claims (mutual ins co), so do you think I should get a salvage piece of glass for $80 and install it myself for @$100 net or have insurance cover it and roll the dice on my premium when my renewal comes up?

Disregard - if it's going to cost me $100 to do it myself and nothing to have insurance cover it initially, if they raise my premium by $100 next year I didn't really lose anything and got the warranty out of the place doing it.  And I don't have to drive around with a plastic sheet over the window for a week while I wait on the part.
