Ctb, whats your beef with yhm rails? Just curious

I don't really care for the size and shape or the way they lock up.  I think they are a very bulky rail.  Personal preference for me is Daniel Defense.

My rifle is set up with a 9" Omega rail right now.  It's narrow, lightweight and requires no modifications to install.  I am moving towards a 10.3" gun that will sport the DD RIS II rail.  While the RIS II is a little wider than the Omega, the lockup is much better and the shape is still very comfortable.

I like the modular rails, but have always had quad rails on my guns.  Currently I have a VFG and light that are mounted to the rail.  I will be adding a DBAL at some point with the intent of never having to see iron sights again.  RDS goes down, DBAL goes up.  If the RDS and DBAL go down, chances are I'll be dead anyways.

I am considering changing the rail on my current rifle (16" mid) to a Centurion or RIS II 12" with the front sight cut out.  Changing to a RIS II would make sense because that is what my MK18 upper will be wearing.  They say that variety is the spice of life, but uniformity and consistency are far more practical concepts.

Ummmm....which 1? Don't they have like 6 different rail forearms designs?

Omega X, Omega, Lite or RIS II.

They are all pretty awesome.  The Omegas are extremely narrow which is nice.  The Lite and RIS II have an excellent lockup.  They aren't as tall but are a little wider.

I am very excited to see the Geissele rail when it hits the market.  As far as modular rails go, It looks like it will be amazing.  There is a reason the people who buy equipment for the people who shoot smelly bearded people in the face in sandy countries ask Geissele to develop products for them..
