Ammo prices way up at WalMart...

Is it just me or did .40 S&W prices take a big jump at WalMart:    >:(


WWB   100 rds .40 165 grain FMJ
  Old price   : $28.97
  New price : $33.97

Rem UMC 250 rds .40 180 grain FMJ

  Old price   : $69.97
  New price : $77.97

Glad my XDm chews up TulAmmo ok. (12.97 for 50 rds 180 grain FMJ)

Check my math, but it looks like a 17 1/4% increase and an 11 2/5% increase respectively. Add to that the slight sales tax increase and you are correct!

I've noticed it too. On my last trip to Cableas, I noticed that their Federal .45ACP was a few bucks cheaper a box than at wallyworld (not a sale price).

I was shooting next to a kid at High Rock a few months ago. A week later I'm sitting at Cabelas waiting for them to process my M&P 9 purchase and see him there. I noticed he was about to get taken to the cleaners for a case of M855 and clued him in. I wrote down a handful of sites off the top of my head and all he could say was WOW and THANKS.

I don't understand why people buy ammo locally. It's all well and good to support your local shop, but come on. It's a no brainer. Once in a while I'll grab a few boxes of HST from Tactical Arms, but that the extent of my local ammo purchases. If they dropped the prices we could talk.

That sucks, I usually pick up a couple of boxes when Im in there.

If you want a good site to get quick prices try:

http://gun-deals.com/ammo

They pull from a bunch of sites and are pretty reliable. They also cover most calibers with a drop down list.

I got it from a FAQ over on AR15.

I have actually never bought ammo online, I usually buy local, I feel like I am doing it wrong now.

As Bollinc14 stated, "gun-deals.com" is a good starting point for ammo price comparisons. Another site is "ammoengine.com" Shipping is generally the biggest variable; some offering free shipping, others a reasonable rate on large orders. If you are eager to shoot today and you'll be passing a gun shop or Wal-Mart, you probably won't worry about paying more for a solitary box of ammo.
